Create Your Own Wedding Flowers Review

As a bride, deciding to create your own wedding flowers can seem like a daunting path to take.  Flicking through bridal magazines you are shown image after image of stunning, professionally designed arrangements that seem all but impossible to create yourself.  Most of these arrangements have a colossal price tag too - imported flowers, huge numbers of blooms and hours spent by professionals making them look just so.  As much as we’d love to have them, these arrangements are simply out of most brides’ budgets.

It is possible to create your own beautiful wedding flowers, despite what the mags would have you believe.  I’ve written about it before here.  All it takes is some research, practice and preparation. With the right information, you’ll have beautiful flowers and you’ll save hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars in the process.  I’m sure you could find somewhere better for that money to go!

For anyone considering DIY floral arrangements Create Your Own Wedding Flowers is a very thorough resource.  It covers your research and gives you all the information you need to prepare.  The practice part is up to you - and I (and the authors) strongly recommend that you do practice.

Create Your Own Wedding Flowers is written by Cindy Lymbery and Paul Ajao, florists themselves with many years experience in preparing wedding flowers.  It is 86 pages of step-by-step, very clear instructions AND photographs that show exactly how to create a selection of the most popular wedding bouquets, boutonnieres and centerpieces.  It also includes a resource list for each project, so you know exactly what you need to recreate your chosen arrangement.

The arrangements taught in Create Your Own Wedding Flowers include:

  • calla lily arm bouquet
  • rose posy
  • cascade bouquet
  • short and tall floral centerpieces
  • rose boutonniere
  • orchid boutonniere

The arrangements included have been specifically chosen because they are simple to create, yet are classically beautiful.  This is not the place to be looking if you are after complex designs, which quite honestly probably aren’t in the scope of the DIYer anyhow.

Again I’ll emphasise that it is so important to practice your arrangements before your wedding.  While the skills and arrangements are easily learnt, the morning of your wedding is not the time to be learning!  Once you have the skills mastered you may even feel comfortable substituting different flowers or creating your own color schemes.

At $15.95, this is an incredibly affordable resource.  At the moment there is a bonus “Essential Wedding Tips” included with any purchase.  This, in addition with an 8 week, money back guarantee AND 3 months of free email support from the authors makes it no brainer, really :-)

If you’re ready to put your own personal stamp on your wedding and save hundreds of dollars in the process click here to get started with “Create Your Own Wedding Flowers”.  You could be creating beautiful arrangements by tomorrow!

Our Very Own Pocket Wedding Planner

I’ve recently finished working on the Fall Wedding Flowers Wedding Planning Timeline.  It’s a single sheet (pamphlet style) checklist planner that you print out and pop in your purse.  That means you’ll have it with you to refer to where ever you are.

The pocket planner is part of a bigger project, that will soon see a much more detailed planning video released.

The planner is my little gift to you for coming to visit The Fall Wedding Flowers Blog.  I hope you find it useful and would love to hear your feedback on it.

To get your copy, just fill in your details over on the right and a download link will be delivered to your inbox.  (Note:  First you’ll get a message asking you to confirm that you really requested the planner - a pain, but something that needs to be done to combat spammers).

Create your own wedding bouquet

An elegant, rounded posy is one of the most versatile wedding bouquets.  Virtually any flower is suitable for this shape.  A great variation in the feel of your arrangements can be achieved my using different combinations of colors and/or flowers.

Even better, this style of bouquet is one of the simplest to create yourself.  The florist in this video adds a little extra pop to her bouquet by adding crystals.  With just a little practice you’ll be able to create your own stunning wedding flowers bouquets.

The wedding’s over…now what?

As brides, many of us put a tremendous amount of our life and soul into planning the perfect wedding. It’s no exaggeration to say that some brides started planning their wedding before they even met their partner. Once the formality of becoming engaged is out of the way, it’s full steam ahead to ensure that everything is as close as possible to that long held wedding day vision.

By becoming so tenaciously involved in every detail of wedding planning - from invitations to flowers and shoes to music - it is easy to forget that there is life after the big day.

Mail Online has a very interesting article, Help! I’ve got post-nuptial depression, discussing the feeling of emptiness many brides feel once the wedding is over.

It’s not that they don’t love their partner or love being married. Instead, once the goal, and all the work that goes along with it, of the wedding day of her dreams has been achieved normal life can seem a little, well, ho-hum.

It is so vitally important to maintain relationships and interests outside of planning your wedding to combat the deflated post wedding feeling many brides experience.

Don’t forget to take a few days or even a week off every now and then from checking your lists or designing wedding stationery every now and then. Your wedding won’t suffer, you’ll be refreshed and more importantly, you’ll maintain your connection with “real life”.
