Fall Wedding Flowers - Delphiniums

Stately fall wedding flowers, the delphinium is also a versatile choice.  Up to twenty star shaped blooms open along a tall stem which can be used to add height to arrangements.

Delphiniums are available in white, shades of pink, lilac and many nuances of that elusive flower color:  blue.

Most often seen as a vertical accent, delphiniums also may be used in cascading bouquets.  They combine beautifully with other fall wedding flowers such as roses, hydrangeas and calla lilies where they can offer a lovely contrast in color and form.

A lovely meadow style bouquet can be made using delphiniums in a pageant bouquet carried across the arm.

Typically arrangements with delphiniums will be reasonably relaxed looking as they have that real cottage garden appeal.

Another cute idea is to use the individual delphinium flowers in a more formal, rounded bouquet.  The blues especially will give a real pop to a pale or pastel colored bouquet of roses for instance.

Centerpieces and reception flowers can be given a very dramatic look with the added height of delphiniums.  Remember though to keep the bulk of your centerpieces above your guests’ heads when they are seated so they can still see and talk with each other!

Do you know how to make sure you get a great florist?

This is just a quick heads up to an interesting article in the American Chronicle today.  It details the important steps to follow to ensure you are hiring a great florist for your wedding.  Don’t get caught out with extra costs or a florist who isn’t on the “same page” as you.

In my article Florist or DIY Fall Wedding Flowers I mentioned that talking with a florist is a good idea, even if you plan to do your own flowers and that is reiterated again in this article.  An expert florist has a wealth of knowledge and experience that can help make all the difference with your fall wedding flowers.

Have you planned the perfect wedding?

Although it’s difficult to think about things not going to plan, it pays to be prepared.  As brides, we put an enormous amount of time and effort into planning our weddings.  We have a vision of our perfect day.  We write lists, we check things off, we review and check them again.

This article from 7 Online in conjunction with The Knot, covers some of the “unforseeable problems” that might rear their ugly heads to spoil the special day - keeping children happy at the reception, dealing with rain, wilting flowers (aaargh!!) and reception venue problems.

It’s well worth the read.  Even if everything goes exactly as planned, it doesn’t hurt to be prepared.  Right?
