The wedding’s over…now what?

December 14th by admin

As brides, many of us put a tremendous amount of our life and soul into planning the perfect wedding. It’s no exaggeration to say that some brides started planning their wedding before they even met their partner. Once the formality of becoming engaged is out of the way, it’s full steam ahead to ensure that everything is as close as possible to that long held wedding day vision.

By becoming so tenaciously involved in every detail of wedding planning - from invitations to flowers and shoes to music - it is easy to forget that there is life after the big day.

Mail Online has a very interesting article, Help! I’ve got post-nuptial depression, discussing the feeling of emptiness many brides feel once the wedding is over.

It’s not that they don’t love their partner or love being married. Instead, once the goal, and all the work that goes along with it, of the wedding day of her dreams has been achieved normal life can seem a little, well, ho-hum.

It is so vitally important to maintain relationships and interests outside of planning your wedding to combat the deflated post wedding feeling many brides experience.

Don’t forget to take a few days or even a week off every now and then from checking your lists or designing wedding stationery every now and then. Your wedding won’t suffer, you’ll be refreshed and more importantly, you’ll maintain your connection with “real life”.

So that’s what it is. Burn out I guess. We really need to have some time to pause and rest.
